It’s Kudos to the KRA for efficient iTax

What you need to know:

  • I filed my 2015 tax returns early this week from the comfort of my office.

  • There were minimum hitches, the biggest challenge being that I could not recall the security question and answer I set during PIN migration to iTax.

  • To my utter surprise, my call to KRA’s call centre took shorter than it possibly could have taken to a private company.

I vividly remember back in the day when we would line up at Times Tower and other Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offices just to submit our tax forms.

The torture of the scorching sun or some other unfavourable weather conditions is indelible in the minds of taxpayers who had to dedicate time to file their returns.

Now I no longer have to bother my boss, asking for a day off to submit my tax returns, courtesy of KRA’s online platform, iTax.

The agent pleasantly asked for my PIN.

In a short while, I received the password to my iTax account, filed my returns, and received a confirmation email from KRA to the effect that they had been successfully received.

KRA, how I wish you had introduced iTax at your inception!
