Kenya Prisons recovered from an opening day loss to defeat hosts Marsa in their second game of the volleyball Women's African Club Championship in Monastir, Tunisia on Saturday night.

The five-time Africa champions coasted to a straight sets victory of 25-12, 25-15 and 26-24 points.

This result will go a long way in erasing Prisons 3-1 ( 25-14, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-16 ) defeat at the hands of the tournament defending champions Ahly in their other group B game.

This result also implies that coach David Lung'aho's charges have resuscitated their hopes of grabbing qualification to the quarter-finals, a feat they will achieve with wins over Algeria's Bejaija on Sunday afternoon and University of Zimbabwe the following day.

"I am encouraged heading into the remaining group games because in yesterday's match we were abit calm compared to the match against Ahly against a very young team but which has the basics. Our players were very good especially in blocking and attack although we still have issues in reception." Lung'aho explained

Prisons started intensely with impressive volleys from their attackers and unlike their opponents, the Kenyan side had fast and persuasive attacking options, and they were an endless danger throughout the first set. Marsa got the second set underway, however the Kenyans who were fighting to avoid a second defeat easily triumphed with a ten point margin.

In the other games played Saturday, Organisers Carthage collected their second win after beating INJS from Cameroon with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16 and 25-22) victory in a pool A encounter.

Ahly also continued with the winning streak, following a comfortable v3-0 (25-8, 25-7 and 25-16) victory over the University of Zimbabwe, whilst Seychelles representatives ARSU continued their losing streak following a 3-0 (25-8, 25-19 and 25-13) loss to Shams of Egypt.
