AK branches to hold special general meeting in two weeks

  • While quoting Article 10.2 (d) of the AK Constitution, Mutwii said they have constitutionally called for the meeting to discuss many issues affecting athletics in the country.

Fourteen Athletics Kenya regions will hold a national special general meeting on November 14 at AK headquarters in Nairobi.

Paul Mutwii who is the spokesman of the 14 regions on Thursday said that all the 16 regions of AK have been invited for the meeting and urged AK President Isaiah Kiplagat to attend and chair it as per the constitution.

Mutwii, who is also the AK Southern chairman, said they have been forced to call the meeting after AK headquarters and AK President failed to respond to their letter requesting for the meeting within 21 days.

While quoting Article 10.2 (d) of the AK Constitution, Mutwii said they have constitutionally called for the meeting to discuss many issues affecting athletics in the country.

“We shall in due course as required by Article 10.2b (i) send the agenda of the meeting to our members within the specified dates,” said Mutwii. Mutwii, flanked by fellow branch chairmen Jonathan Kosgei (Police),  Peter Angwenyi (Nyanza South), Joseph Kinyua (Eastern), Barnabas Korir (Nairobi) and Billy Konchellah (Narok), urged the head office to prepare for the meeting.

“We are calling on members to attend, including the president who should be there as required by the AK Constitution,” Mutwii said.

“We are also requesting the management at Riadha House to prepare everything for a successful meeting.” Mutwii urged both active and retired athletes to attend.
