Eagle Wings prove too good for Safe Spaces in basketball league

Eagle Wings beat Safe Spaces 102-32 in the women’s basketball Premier League at Nyayo Gymnasium on Saturday.

In other matches at the same venue, Strathmore University women’s team beat KCA-U 51-21, Nairobi Aviation College upset Thunder 63-61 while Blazers fell 77-48 to Kenya Airports Authority in the men’s Premier League.

On Satuday, Eagle Wings’ star Salma Akinyi scored 15 points as they raced to a 24-6 first quarter lead for a deserved 56-14 half-time advantage.

Eagle Wings led 23-7 and 23-11 in the third and fourth quarters for two crucial points. Wings play Storms on Sunday and a win will see them topple leaders Flames from top of the standings.

In another match in the women’s league, Mollete Achieng shot game-high 14 points while Tanya Ogwel hit 10 to help Strathmore University beat KCA-U 51-21.

Lions were set to play Strathmore University later on Saturday.
