Coast to host Nairobi in Under 19 friendly cricket match

Cricket Kenya coast elite coach, Jimmy Kamande, Thursday said he expects his boys to use home advantage when they face their Nairobi counterparts at Coast Gymkhana in a friendly 50-over encounter this weekend.

“My boys have trained hard for the friendly games and I will expect four to five boys to come from this region when the final squad of 14 players for the Kenyan team for next year’s Africa under-19 World Cup qualifiers is named,” Kamande said.

Thomas Odoyo, the under-19 team coach, said that he is using the two matches to give the youngsters the much needed match practice.

He said that the youngsters who will wear national colours will be picked in January. The selected team will play against Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria and Botswana for a single slot reserved for associate members of ICC in the continent.

South Africa and Zimbabwe, the two Test playing countries in Africa have direct entry in the age group World Cup set for Bangladesh in 2016.
