For the first time in the 44-year history of the CBA Africa Concours de’Elegance, there will be an entry from Argentina in this year’s event.

Herman Zapp and his family have entered a large three-litre 1928 US-made Graham Paige in the annual motor show, set for Nairobi Racecourse on September 28.

This vintage car is on a leisurely round-the-world trip and has been driven sedately through a number of countries during past 14 years.

Zapp and his family first heard about the Concours at an event in the United States and while they were touring South Africa, they were urged by three motor clubs to participate in the event during their stay in Kenya.

The Graham Paige will contest the class for pre-1940 cars that features two Ford Model As, a 1934 Alvis Firefly and a Bentley made in 1936.

In addition to Zapp’s 86-year-old American car, which will be one of the star attractions in a high-quality entry list for cars and motorcycles, there are three cars from Uganda, three motorcycles from South Africa and 12 bikes from Uganda.

The oldest machine at the Racecourse will be the 1925 DKW motorcycle, which will be ridden around the judging ring by Sati Jabbal.
