Favourites recorded opening day victories in the Secondary Schools Term Two A regional games which kicked off in various venues across the country yesterday.

In Metropolitan region, Nairobi County girls netball champions Parklands Arya announced their intentions of winning the crown after thumping Makueini Girls 37-14 in their opening match at Makueni Boys.

The Nairobi-based school started brightly racing to a 20- 3 half time lead before extending their lead after the break for a comfortable win.

However, Nairobi County’s other representatives Buruburu Girls suffered a 23-5 loss to AIC Syumile of Makueni.

At the Highland region games in Chuka campus, Tharaka Nithi County handball girls’ champions Kirigara Girls beat Yenzuva Girls from Kitui County 12-5 to top Pool A with maximum points while in netball, Kirigara topped the group that featured Itoloni Girls from Kitui, Kanjaru Girls (Embu), Magenga and Ngararima Girls from Tharaka Nithi and Samburu Counties respectively.

In Kwale High School, Shimbo Secondary School Girls handball team from Taita Taveta sounded an early warning walloping Tumaini secondary from Mombasa County 40-15. In rugby sevens, Mlamba Secondary from Taita hit Likoni secondary 12-05.

Fednike Wawuda starred for the victors finishing with a game high 28 points while Saumu Juma responded with a respectable six goals for Tumaini. Fabish Kiriga and Mwataku Mbaga each scored a try for the former.
