  • Bengi, driving a Toyota RunX, leads Formula Two category
  • Chatthe’s form so far as been one of the best since making his rally debut three years ago.

Jaspreet Chatthe maintained his lead at the top of the overall standings of the 2015 KCB Kenya National Championship series despite finishing third in the just-concluded KCB Kajiado Rally.

Chatthe’s form so far as been one of the best since making his rally debut three years ago. Though, it is still a long way to go with five more rounds of the championship remaining, Chatthe has taken a considerable lead of 20 points over Ian Duncan at the end of the third round of the series.

Chatthe attributes much of his rising form to Mark Higgins, the former British Rally Champion, who has been instrumental with expertise on professional rally driving skills.

“Higgins was here during the KCB Safari Rally, in South Africa and prior to the start of the Kajiado Rally. He gave me valuable tips. His training has been very helpful,’’ said Chatthe.

While most eyes are focused on the top contenders, the battle for top honors in the rest of the classes literally goes on without the much attention of the media or the fans for much of the time.

New kids on the block, Eric Bengi and Sammy Nyorri could change the face of the battle at the other end if they continue with the current form in the Two Wheel Class that has been relentless and tormenting to the rest of their rivals.

The former National Formula Two Champion, Denis Mwenda has since elevated to the main Class, where he has maintained his good form to enjoy the new status. The seventh place finish in the KCB Kajiado Rally, was the best-ever result for him and his navigator, Job Njiru.

Waigwa Murage and Tuta Mionki, who won the Group S Class in Kajiado, now lead the Class with 62.5 points followed by Mombasa’s Nadeem Kana 42 points.
