The secretariat of the Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF) has moved to the Sikh Union Club, Nairobi.

For more than a decade, KMSF has operated from a residential estate in Westlands, Nairobi.

KMSF, the organization mandated with running motor sport activities in Kenya by the world body FIA, will from November 1 operate from the Sikh Union Club located along Forest Road in Nairobi.

The relocation of the KMSF secretariat to the Sikh Union Club is part of plans put in place by KMSF chairman J.S. Vohra aimed at modernization of the operations of the federation with the objective of speeding up the development of the sport.

KMSF, one of the stable sports federations in the country, presides over rallying, autocross, motocross and rally raid.

APPROPRIATE LOCATION

“KMSF directors found it appropriate to move the secretariat to a more strategic place where all stake holders can operate freely. The new location has better conference halls, is more spacious and has ample parking space,’’ said Vohra, a respected hotelier in the country.

And Tuesday, Ian Duncan, one of the most celebrated rally drivers in the country, expressed satisfaction with efforts aimed at improving the running of the federation.

“I think it is the right move which should work well for all stakeholders. Sikh Union Club is a nice place with the necessary facilities,’’ sad Duncan.

Similar sentiments were echoed by KMSF general manager, Mwaura Njoroge. The move comes just weeks before the Sikh Union Club hosts this year’s round of the Guru Nanak Rally which will be held on November 23.

TITLE RACE

The rally will bring down the curtain on the 2014 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship series where Baldev Chager holds a narrow lead over Carl Tundo.

Like the main championship, drivers from the other categories are also set to fight it out for titles in the lower categories.

While other title contenders will be sweating it out in the final event, Nikhil Sachania, one of the most exciting drivers in the series, will be under no pressure in the title chase, having clinched the SPV title in a specially-modified rally car. The young driver is a paralysed below the hip.

RACE FOR TITILE

Former Formula Two champion, Leonardo Varese, needs two points from the last event to reclaim the F2 title from the current champion, Denis Mwenda.

Jonathan Somen (Ford Escort) and Aslam Khan (Porsche 911) will fight it out for the Classic Class title at the Guru Nanak Rally. With 20 points up for grabs for winning the class and only 14 points splitting the two veteran drivers, the contest promises to be mouth-watering.
