Prisons, KCB lift Nairobi County volleyball titles

Kenya Prisons and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) warmed up for the upcoming seventh leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league fixtures in Eldama Ravine in emphatic style by winning the men’s and women’s titles at the Nairobi County Chairman’s Cup at the University of Nairobi at the weekend.

Other winners of the two-day competition, that attracted close to 30 teams, included Nairobi County Council (NCC), who easily won the self-supporting category, while Kimbo Secondary School and St Paul’s University claimed the Schools and Colleges titles respectively.

Winners in each category were awarded Sh20,000 while the runners received Sh10,000.

“We are encouraged by the turnout and the talent that was on display. We now plan to invite more teams especially from outside Nairobi during the next edition with the hope that our coaches will come to scout for new players,” Nairobi County KVF Chairman Joseph Nderitu said.

“We came here to fine tune for the next round of league matches and I am happy with my team’s performance,” Prisons coach Gideon Chenje said.

In another result KCB ‘A’ defeated KCB ‘B’ in straight sets of 25-20, 25-17 and 28-26 to scoop the ladies title.
