The five-time champions suffered a 3-1 ( 25-14, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-16 ) defeat at the hands of the tournament defending champions Ahly in their opening group B game before defeating
hosts Marsa in straight sets of 25-12, 25-15 and 26-24 points.
