Kenya international Wacu ditches Prisons for Pipeline

- Because the deal was finalised outside the transfer window, Wacu is not eligible to feature for Pipeline during this 20017 season, but is free to represent the club in the African Club Championship scheduled for April in Tunisia.
Kenyan volleyball poster girl Jane Wacu is thrilled after completing her move to National women's League champions Kenya Pipeline from rivals Kenya Prisons.
Wacu was handed a lucrative three-year deal on Thursday morning that included a sweetened pay package, a more comprehensive medical cover as well as housing allowance.
The Kenyan international says that she is happy to go back to where she started his career, despite the fact that she had already created something of a home at Prisons.
“It has been 10 years since I left Pipeline but I think I was always meant to go back. I feel excited to have made the move because I love adventure and have never been afraid of embracing change, but I will definitely miss the family I had at Prisons.
“I will forever remain thankful to Prisons for the decade we have been together. During that period I have grown in my career and it is all thanks to the support they accorded me,” the Tetu High School alumnus said.
Wacu is an accomplished volleyball player who has won numerous accolades both domestically and abroad for her impressive capabilities in her position as setter.
She currently holds the Kenya Volleyball Federation’s Best Setter’s accolade, and has been attached to the national volleyball team Malkia Strikers for more than a decade.
Last year, she returned from a two-year professional volleyball stint at Club Charmalieres in France where she had earned her place in the senior team.
His departure now elevates rookie Joy Lusenaka to a new status as the team’s main setter as Sally Wanjala left the club during the end of season transfer window and joined Kenya Commercial Bank team.
Because the deal was finalised outside the transfer window, Wacu is not eligible to feature for Pipeline during this 20017 season, but is free to represent the club in the African Club Championship scheduled for April in Tunisia.
Wacu will however face the challenge of proving to Pipeline coach Japheth Munala that she is deserves a place in the first team over the likes of Janet Wanja and Veronicah Tanui who have already proven worthy in that position.
