Subukia no match for Nakuru rugby champions Menengai

Defending champions Menengai High School started their campaign to retain the rugby title at the Nakuru County Term One secondary school games by demolishing Subukia Day 41-0 at Nakuru Boys High School on Thursday.

It was a sad day in office for rookies Subukia Day who found the going tough in their second match when they again went down 0-31 at the hands of Magereza Secondary from Naivasha.

Title hopefuls Utumishi Academy of Gilgil disciplined JM Kariuki Secondary 23-3 to keep alive their hopes of reaching the finals.

Utumishi proved that their win against JM Kariuki was not a fluke when they edged Kirobon Boys 5-3. Newcomers ELCK Kongoi silenced pre match favourites Njoro Boys 5-0.

In girls’ hockey, champions Bahati Girls hit Kirobon 2-0, with Aisha Chebet and Maureen Korir sounding the boards.

Afraha High School beat Naivasha Girls by a similar score while Greensteds climbed over Mary Mount by silencing them with a solitary goal.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

In the boys’ category, Utumishi punished Elburgon-based Michinda 2-0 while hosts Nakuru Boys defeated Njoro Boys 3-1.

Jomo Kenyatta Secondary could not contain Kirobon who defeated them 2-0 and in another match Naivasha Boys were too hot for Michinda Boys whom they clobbered 2-0.

In girls’ basketball, Naivasha Girls thrashed Kirobon 16-4 and in another game Bahati Girls hammered Elburgon Baptist 23-9 while Moi High School Kabarak sunk 36 points into Elburgon Baptist's net.

Nakuru Girls eliminated Njoro Girls 29- 5 and Jomo Kenyatta lost 28-35 at the hands of Archibishop Ndingi.

In boys’ basketball, Utumishi Academy taught St Joseph’s Seminary of Molo basketball lessons, beating them 27-10.
