Nairobi is preparing to compete in third leg of the national boxing league set for Thika from June 8 -10.The first and second legs of the league were held in Kisumu and Nanyuki respectively.

Nairobi County Boxing Association secretary, Musa Benjamin on Monday said: “We expect both Omar Kasango Sports Academy (OKSA) and Kentrack Entertainment Boxing Team to take their respective boxers to Thika. We shall therefore name a team for Nairobi from the boys we have identified and from the other affiliated clubs.”

Even though Kenyatta National Hospital Boxing Club did not raise a side for the Wangila Memorial Cup, boxers from the club often take part in the Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) national league and other events organised by BAK.

Nairobi County has for many years acted as a nursery for established teams like the Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Police ‘Chafua Chafua’ and Kenya Prisons.

A number of officials from the three uniformed boxing associations showed up at Jericho Social Hall to scout on talent. Many boxers have been picked by the three associations from such events in the past.
