Ruhiu tops third leg of KQ Safari series at Windsor

  • Sheena, currently playing off handicap 12, posted 33 points to beat Veena Sennik on countback.

Former Machakos Golf Club captain Timothy Ruhiu emerged victorious in the third leg of the 2014/2015 Kenya Airways Golf Safari series at the par 72 Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club at the weekend.

Ruhiu carded an impressive 39 stableford points to beat men winner and former Kenya number one amateur Wachira Mahihu by one point.

“Despite the course being a bit long, due to the on going rain, it was still in awesome condition,” said Ruhiu who won a return ticket to any Africa destination.

Ruiru and lady winner Sheena Round-Turner will now represent the club during the grand finale at the same venue in March.

The handicap three Mahihu however had to beat A.D. Madhani on countback with 38 points to book his ticket to the grand finale.

Sheena, currently playing off handicap 12, posted 33 points to beat Veena Sennik on countback. Qaer Madhani took the longest drive contest as Rushag Amin, on 35 points, was the best junior.

Speaking during the event KQ Finance Director Alex Mbugua said Kenya Airways is committed to growing the status of golf tourism in Kenya.

“In support of golf tourism beyond Kenya, we have developed various special packages for golf in our selected destinations,” said Mbugua.
