“The aim is to host a good competition and retain the African title,” Kioni confirmed.

All the major teams including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Senegal, and Cameroon have already confirmed participation in the tourney which could attract up to 15 nations.

“I am pleased to learn that we will be playing at home. This will increase our confidence and chances of winning because we are familiar with the surroundings and the girls will bank on the home support,” Kenya coach David Lung’aho added.

Besides the championship, the national women team will also compete at the All Africa Games in Brazzaville, FIVB Grand Prix and World Championship qualifiers.
