Mighty Mahia are back on track!

What you need to know:

  • The resounding 3-0 thumping Gor gave the boys who hail from the neighbourhood of the infamous Masinde Muliro Gardens - Kakamega Homeboys, should serve as a pointer that K’Ogalo is on the overtaking lane.
  • I am happy to say that the many problems we had at the beginning of the league including the long standing problem of lack of sponsors are now well behind us.

In my column last week I warned the largely idle Peter Leftie and his cohort of AFC Leopards sycophants to be very afraid. Although they dismissed me off hand, let me repeat here and now that Gor Mahia is on the rampage.

If in doubt then the resounding 3-0 thumping Gor gave the boys who hail from the neighbourhood of the infamous Masinde Muliro Gardens - Kakamega Homeboys, should serve as a pointer that K’Ogalo is on the overtaking lane as we cruise to where we rightfully belong: at the top of the SportPesa Premier League table.

With our Brazilian Jose Marcello Ferraira taking charge as coach and with the Rwandan hit man Jacques “Jausenge” Tuyisenge showing why the glamour club splashed a whooping Sh4 million on him, we are ready to show why we are called the Mighty Mahia.

Granted we started the league on a wrong footing with a string of losses sticking on us like a bad disease. But then again, we are not talking about the Leopards of this world.

We are talking about Gor Mahia, a team that is known to make and break records.

I am happy that on his first assignment for K’Ogalo, Tuyisenge lived up to expectation and scored the second goal.

This is what coach Marcello had to say after the match:

“The victory was remarkable. It confirmed where we are heading to and I must say that we are determined to post more victories in the league.” I agree with him 100 percent.

I am happy to say that the many problems we had at the beginning of the league including the long standing problem of lack of sponsors are now well behind us.

STRENGTHEN TEAM

With a good squad and the coach hinting that he will be going to the market to strengthen his team, all shows that we have the chance- and the will- to win the league.

As I said last week, a survey carried two years ago put Gor Mahia as the best sporting brand in the country.

The International Certification Association-ICERTIAS placed Gor Mahia among top corporate and personalities who it termed as the most saleable brands.

This certification makes us the primus inter parez (first among equals) and has seen us getting two sponsors, SportPesa and Crown Beverage. Already we are on the line to a third sponsor which means we are going to be the richest club in our neck of the woods.

This should make our competitors very afraid.

If we could win the league unbeaten last year what can’t we do now that we are swimming in money?
