Gor bread a good idea that needs smart marketers

What you need to know:

  • What a rip off! First Mr. Chairman get a hold of those people at the gate, we need to know who they are, their identity cards and all particulars must be lodged with the office. This idea of people coming in and paying bribes at the gate must stop.
  • I agree with her 100 per cent. And as my good friend the Shabana FC supporting Kerubo Momanyi tells me the “Gor loaf idea needs a market strategist with a business mind and political goodwill..

Barbarians at the gate! When I wrote in this column last week about how our club must move forward there are a few guys who threw barbs at me. I choose not to respond. One of my solutions is very easy. Am asking the Chairman Ambrose Rachier to fix the problem at the gate.

How comes people without tickets are getting into the stadium? On any given day Gor Mahia matches net atleast Sh 1 million. But then again there people who pay far less than the fixed gate charges and find their way inside the stadium.

What a rip off! First Mr. Chairman get a hold of those people at the gate, we need to know who they are, their identity cards and all particulars must be lodged with the office. This idea of people coming in and paying bribes at the gate must stop.

Having said that, I believe the Gor Mahia bread is a good idea. We need all the money we can get. But we need good marketing strategies. As my good friend Nya Ovaseas said a few weeks ago we need first to hire a marketer.

The marketer should be sent to all schools in the country. After that send the marketer to all hotels in Kenya. And as she said: “Sell the idea with an emphasis to the current state of the club, with a reminder that Gor Mahia is a community club, with a reminder that its the only unifying factor, with a reminder that Gor Mahia has been at the fore front of many CSR activities, with the fact that its a people’s move. And tell all governors in each county to promote the idea to their respective institutions.”

MARKET STRATEGIST

I agree with her 100 per cent. And as my good friend the Shabana FC supporting Kerubo Momanyi tells me the “Gor loaf idea needs a market strategist with a business mind and political goodwill..”
As I finish this rant today let me tell you guys of a fleet of matatus that ply the Ongata Rongai route.

I don’t know the owner but am very proud of that guy. I mean, in a country where every matatu or bus you see is branded foreign teams it’s a refreshing thought to see a ride christened Gor Mahia or simply as it is written at the back ‘Sirkal’.

Whenever am on the road and see one of those matatus I swerve off the road and give way. Deep inside my heart I know this is one for the team.

And by the way, has any of you ever seen a matatu with the name of that perennial losing team called AFC Leopards? If you see one give me a call and get one drink on me.
