Allan Kasavuli was a disaster, bye and good riddance

What you need to know:

  • We were not going to sit back and watch a regime destroy Ingwe’s rich legacy.
  • I do not remember the last time I saw Kasavuli and his cohorts at an Ingwe match.

I must confess that I’ve been one of the harshest critics of Allan Kasavuli and his team. Justifiably so. Which Ingwe fan will sit pretty when the team is dying a slow and painful death?

It was all too obvious that the centre could no longer hold, Kasavuli and his team had resigned to fate.

When it reaches a point when elected officials no longer have the guts not only to face their own players but even pick up their phones to discuss pertinent matters threatening to derail a season and even worse, the inevitable outcome is to throw in the towel.

We were not going to sit back and watch a regime destroy Ingwe’s rich legacy built painstakingly over half a decade by men and women of honour.

I do not remember the last time I saw Kasavuli and his cohorts at an Ingwe match, at least not this season. Not unless my eyesight is failing me.

It is simply unacceptable that one is allowed to preside over the death of such a glamorous club. It has never been allowed to happen and it was not going to be allowed this time round.

The standards set by our past leaders are so high that some tough and painful decisions needed to be taken to salvage the club and restore its lost glory. These were desperate times, and desperate times they say call for desperate measures. So desperate measures had to be taken.

Having said that, I must salute all the great men and women within the Ingwe nation who went out of their way to salvage Ingwe from imminent death. The men and women who spent long hours scratching their heads for solutions to the problems afflicting this great club.

The men and women who spent long hours on the internet blowing the whistle over misdeeds committed behind our backs by a disgraced office and offering solutions.

The great Ingwe patriots who literally intervened and persuaded, even bullied Kasavuli and his team to throw in the towel when the centre could no longer hold.

EMBRACING FAILURE

Yet one man I must salute for graciously embracing failure and accepting to step aside with great humility is Kasavuli himself. For by accepting to step aside, Kasavuli saved the Ingwe nation a lot of trouble.

Invoking clauses in the club’s constitution to remove Kasavulis office had proved too tedious yet with no positive results guaranteed. The trouble with the Ingwe constitution is that it gives leverage to monied busybodies to buy their way to the leadership of this great club.

If you doubt me, ask yourself how the Kasavulis and Lilumbis were elected.

As for the new team, we demand nothing less than a real transformation in the manner the club is run. We will be watching.
