Kasaya is purely a scapegoat for club’s failures

What you need to know:

  • Nothing can be further from the truth. Lilumbi’s claims are an attempt at buck-passing to justify Ingwe’s disastrous season.
  • All Lilumbi is advancing is the notion that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the club apart from lack of commitment from the players!
  • The same office was quick to dispense with Eymael’s successor James Nandwa when things started going awry early this season, replacing him with Abdalla Juma and later de Jongh when fans threatened to torch Kasavuli’s vehicle over poor results.

Those who know Wycliffe Kasaya well may not be entirely surprised by the circumstances which led to his alleged ‘suspension’ or worse still, ‘expulsion’ from AFC Leopards.

We all know that it has never been beyond Kasaya to engage in sometimes violent confrontations with the authorities. But what is baffling is the hurried decision to kick the flamboyant goalkeeper out of the team without giving him a hearing.

This, coupled with club Organizing Secretary Timothy Lilumbi’s assertion that he will evoke a clause in Kasaya’s contract to terminate his services at Ingwe leave a lot to be desired.

Did you hear Lilumbi claim that Kasaya and another senior player (read veteran midfielder Charles Okwemba) attempted to incite their teammates to throw away matches against Ulinzi and Muhoroni over unpaid bonuses?

All Lilumbi is advancing is the notion that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the club apart from lack of commitment from the players!

BASELESS CLAIMS

Nothing can be further from the truth. Lilumbi’s claims are an attempt at buck-passing to justify Ingwe’s disastrous season.

You will recall that it was around the same time last season when the same office hurriedly fired Luc Eymael and his technical bench after a 1-3 loss to Chemelil Sugar at Mumias Stadium.

The excuse then was that the Belgian had lost the support of the dressing room and had to go. Gullibly, we bought the excuse, nay lies. The same office was quick to dispense with Eymael’s successor James Nandwa when things started going awry early this season, replacing him with Abdalla Juma and later de Jongh when fans threatened to torch Kasavuli’s vehicle over poor results.

Kasaya’s predicament and claims of sabotage fall within the same script - somebody is trying to prepare the Ingwe fraternity for a dismal season by apportioning blame. We must rubbish such manoeuvres and demand accountability from those running the club. We must ask hard questions if we are to streamline matters at Ingwe.

What for instance is the contribution of Lilumbi and co. to the club’s performance this season? And how often do the club officials interact with the players and the technical bench to resolve outstanding matters?

Ingwe fans should dismiss the excuses we are being given by the Lilumbi’s of this world and demand for answers from them.
