Rachier ship out officials who cannot shape up

What you need to know:

  • But this priority seems lost in the Gor officialdom and that is why we find ourselves in this sorry state. I have heard of stories of some individuals printing their own tickets which they sell to make a kill – reaping where they never sowed.
  • However, it is time for Rachier to walk the talk. To begin with his cardinal duty is to maintain a good playing unit because without the players there is no Gor Mahia. Simple.
  • Our boys play with a passion. They remind me of the Gor Mahia of the 1980s. It is only fair that they get an honest day’s pay after performing. This way we will all sing: Gor Biro, Yawne Yo!

‘Coaches come and go.” It was the former Gor Mahia patron and later Kenya Football Federation supremo Joab Omino who said these famous words. Today I want to tweak the bearded Joab’s words and say club officials come and go.

As I write this am seething with anger at what appears to be a well schemed sabotage of our beloved Gor Mahia. How else would you explain the fact that players of the mighty Mahia are on a go slow for non payment of salaries and allowances?

Granted, we have been undergoing a financial strain after our former sponsor Tuzo took off. But this does not excuse those given the heavy responsibility of running Gor Mahia to shirk their cardinal duty – taking care of the playing unit.

Any serious Gor Mahia game – or a state function as we in Sirkal call it – cannot collect amounts less than Sh1 million. Anybody with an IQ slightly above that of a Kenchic broiler would expect that the monies realised should first go towards paying players’ salaries and allowances.

PRINTING OWN TICKETS

But this priority seems lost in the Gor officialdom and that is why we find ourselves in this sorry state. I have heard of stories of some individuals printing their own tickets which they sell to make a kill – reaping where they never sowed. My appeal to club chairman Ambrose Rachier is that he should take matters in his own hands and solve this situation. The few times I have interacted with the chairman he comes across as a man with good intentions for the club.

And he has the right background for this task, after all you can never build a reputable law firm if you don’t have the grasp of basic business ideas.

However, it is time for Rachier to walk the talk. To begin with his cardinal duty is to maintain a good playing unit because without the players there is no Gor Mahia. Simple.

If it turns out that there are some members of his administration frustrating the club he should crack the whip and tell us who they are and we will see how to “advise” them.

Gor Mahia is bigger than any individual ever born and putting people in that office is a favour and not a right. We can as well replace them by close of business today.
I have seen a petition by some of my friends from that perennial losing club AFC Leopards calling for the removal of their officials.

If that is what it will take to save our club so be it.
