Ze Maria, bring results or ship out
What you need to know:
- José Marcelo Ferreira “Ze Maria, I am sad to give the verdict that you are an appalling failure.
- Instead of the Mighty Mahia we have been accustomed to, that team of yours is strange to us, the only familiar thing being the team colours.
- The lofty dream we had of you taking K’Ogalo to even greater heights has turned into a never ending nightmare.
- You have spectacularly turned a winning machine into a losing side.
- Mr Ze Maria you have two options- give us back our familiar Gor Mahia or take an early flight to Rio de Janeiro.
Bom dia senor José Marcelo Ferreira “Ze Maria”? My good sir, I am penning this as a long suffering supporter of our beloved Gor Mahia Football Club.
When the club hired you, it was with our usual bashful and pompous optimism that we welcomed you to the hallowed grounds to guide us to another win. For us, this was a matter of when and not if.
However, some five long months later, I am sad to give the verdict that you are an appalling failure. Instead of the Mighty Mahia we have been accustomed to, that team of yours is strange to us, the only familiar thing being the team colours.
As usual in our club, many will rush at me with hammers and tongs claiming that I have been bought and that I am against the club management, which is not true. If anything, I was one of the people who readily welcomed you when you were appointed coach in March of this year.
HAVE TO PLAY FOOTBALL
This is what I had to say, “ I know the passion with which the Brazilians love their game which is quite the same way the members of the K’Ogalo nation love their game too. If the coach would transfer the same passion into our club then I see no reason why we should not be where we rightfully belong on the league chart — at the top.
I was impressed when on his first interview Ze Maria said: “I explained to them (the players) my philosophy. They have to play football. It’s easy for me, if they are happy, I’m happy. I’m Brazilian. I live for the game.”’
But my good man, the lofty dream we had of you taking K’Ogalo to even greater heights has turned into a never ending nightmare. We have become the king of draws, snatching a draw from jaws of victory with each passing day.
I don’t have the details of the contract you signed but I should believe that you were hired to win us matches. Can you, with all honesty, face us the fans and say that this is the same Gor Mahia we had at this point in time last year?
This is not the team that tantalised fans winning the Kenyan Premier League and reaching the finals at the regional club championships in Dar es Salaam.
You have spectacularly turned a winning machine into a losing side. Mr Ze Maria you have two options- give us back our familiar Gor Mahia or take an early flight to Rio de Janeiro. In fact, I believe the plane that brought back the victorious Kenyan Olympic team from Rio is still parked at JKIA.
