Kenenisa and Dibaba out of squad
The three jewels in Ethiopia’s long distance running - Kenenisa Bekele, Tirunesh Dibaba and Sileshi Sihine - were absent in the country’s trials for World cross country championships, through injury.
And they are subsequently absent from their team. But local officials are reading mischief in the selection, saying the Ethiopians are back to their old book for another trick to hoodwink them to focus elsewhere - away from the real enemy.
Team: Women 6km - Sule Utura, Genzebe Dibaba, Emebet Anteneh, Meseret Mengistu, Tsega Gelaw, Frehiwot Goshu. Men 8km - Ayele Abshiro, Yetwale Kinde, Dejen Gebremeskel, Atalay Yersaw, Debebe Woldesenbet, Legesse Lemiso. Women 8km - Wude Ayalew, Meselech Melkamu, Gelete Burka, Koreni Jelila, Sentayehu Ejigu, Mamitu Deska. Men 12km - Gebregziabher Gebremariam, Feyissa Lelisa, Tadesse Tola, Tariku Bekele, Hunegnaw Mesfin, Habtamu Fekadu.
