In Summary
- Olympic and London champ could win a possible Sh32m in Chicago race
Since its inaugural running in 1977, the Chicago Marathon has developed a global reputation for its fast, record-setting course.
The flat city landscape and cool climate combine to provide the best backdrop for posting records – personal, national and world.
Vincent Kipruto, 21, will be the man earmarked to push Wanjiru all the way.
He adds intrigue to the men’s field having captured the world’s attention with a new course record of 2:05:47 at the Paris Marathon, his second marathon appearance.
Abderrahim Goumri (2:05:30), will look to continue the Moroccan tradition in Chicago, mirroring the talents and top finishes of Abdelkader el Mouaziz, Khalid Khannouchi and Jaouad Gharib.
