Ugandan organisers have assured visiting athletes and fans guaranteed security even in the wake of the recent brutal murder of the assistant inspector general of police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Kampala Metropolitan Commander Frank Mwesigwa said on Wednesday that they have implemented a “thorough security plan for the safety of lives and property” during Sunday’s athletics showpiece.

“Our security ring starts from to the (Entebbe) Airport to the city,” Mwesigwa told Nation Sport. “So far we have received 100 delegates and officials and escorted them to their designated four hotels in town.”
