Mo selfies, please?

*****

“You really don’t have a life, do you?,” a championship official asked Great Britain’s distance running sensation Mo Farah as the athlete posed for photographs and selfies after settling for silver in 5,000 metres race on Saturday night. Mo, who won the 10,000m on the opening night, was graceful in defeat on Saturday in what was his last track race at a major championship. He hinted that he might return to Kenya to train for the marathon.

Patron scares security team

*****

A security team stormed the ‘Prince of Wales’ club in Brixton on Saturday night, fearing that a terrorist was hiding in the toilet, preparing to strike. But after storming through the toilet door, they found a middle-aged Brit blacked out on the toilet seat, much to the amusement of the patrons at the club who ordered extra rounds to laugh off the incident. Locals are relieved that the World Championships concluded without a terrorist incident.

It’s Time for the media to sign off

*****

After a busy two weeks, global journalists on Sunday packed up from the media centre that’s been virtually their second home and where Briton Jayne Pierce has been an excellent press chief. Many scribes had flights out last night, the majority even failing to get time for a tour of London given the huge workload. Journalists, who work day and night are often the unsung heroes at these championships.

The Nigerian restaurant offers African cuisine and music to boot with DJ “BA Finest” making you feel like you are back home in Africa. The restaurant also sells African beer with Nigeria’s ‘Star’ lager going for five pounds (Sh670) for a 500ml bottle. It plays live music from Friday to Sunday, with live jazz performances on Thursdays.
