Kithinji takes over as general manager of Cricket Kenya

  • Kithinj’s predecessor, South Africa-born Olivier Kobus left Kenya unceremoniously in June when he learnt that he had been working in the country illegally as Cricket Kenya had not secured work permit for him.

Cricket Kenya (CK) has appointed Josphat Murithi Kithinji as the general manager with effect from January 5.

Kithinj’s predecessor, South Africa-born Olivier Kobus left Kenya unceremoniously in June when he learnt that he had been working in the country illegally as Cricket Kenya had not secured work permit for him.

The South African had joined CK in November last year from Western Cape as a replacement for  Barbra Kokonya, who had left CK for greener pastures four months earlier.

QUALIFIED COACH

Kobus was a qualified level three coach who had worked as a national youth coach in the Netherlands for two years. He was also a development officer during his time in the Netherlands. 

Kithinji brings to CK a wealth of experience spanning more than 11 years. He has experience in various senior leadership levels, including change management, driving organizational transformation, leadership development, operations and administration as well as human resources strategy.

He has worked previously for Equity Bank Limited, Stoic Security and Tribeka Investments. Murithi holds an MBA (Strategic Management) from Kenyatta University and a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Kenya Methodist University.

He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) from Moi University and a Diploma in Banking and Finance from Kenya Institute of Bankers.

Kithinji is an Associate member of the Kenya Institute of Management and a consultant trainer for Capacity Africa Training Institute in the areas of finance and grant management.
