Champs Swamibapa welcome Sikh Union in league opener

Champions Swamibapa will on Sunday begin their campaign to retain the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) Super Division Twenty20 title against Sikh Union at Nairobi Jaffreys ground from 9.30 am.

The star-studded Swamibapa, boasting a fair number of national team players, will start as favourites in the opening game. Kenya’s opening batsman, Alex Obanda, is expected to open batting for Swamibapa with skipper Morris Ouma, who is a former national team captain.

STRONG SQUAD

Emmanuel Bundi, Nehemiah Odhiambo and Elijah Otieno are the other national team players in the side. Swamibapa has  a formidable bowler in Lameck Onyango, a retired national team player.

Sikh Union will rely on veteran all-rounder, Nadeem Ahmed and Gurdeep Singh, who was recently capped in the national side. Gurdeep’s cousins, Talandeep Singh and Gagandeep Singh, are also expected to do well with bat and ball for the side.

Elsewhere, newly-crowned NPCA Super League 50-over champions, Stray Lions, host Kongonis at Peponi School on Sunday. Kanbis, who lost their invincibility last season after losing both the Twenty20 and 50-over trophies, visit Ruaraka on Sunday.
