Kenya Under-19 will tour Zimbabwe from July 29 to August 12 to play a series of friendly matches against their counterparts from the host nations and West Indies.
Jimmy Kamande, the coach of the triumphant team that qualified for next year’s age group World Cup set for New Zealand from January 13 to February 3, on Friday said that Cricket Kenya chair person, Jackie Janmohamed, was working around the clock to see that the tour materialised.
Kamande said: “Jackie wants us to take part in a triangular tournament as West Indies will be touring Zimbabwe at the same time. She is giving us all the support we require to prepare for the World Cup.”
After the Zimbabwe tour, Kamande said that the boys will play friendly matches against Kenya Select side during the August School Holidays.
He added: “I am chasing for travel documents for three players, Maxwell Ager, Gerald Mwendwa and Dennis Musyoka and it has not been an easy task. Being minors, the three boys do not have national identity cards.
“I had therefore to get the ID cards of both parents of each boy to be able to apply for boys’ passports.”
When asked what his plans for the World Cup were, Kamande said: “My aim is for us to finish as the top associate side to get automatic qualification to the 2020 Under-19 World Cup.”
