Kenya U-19s head to Kigali for Twenty20 tourney

Kenya’s Under-19 cricket team leaves for Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday to compete in the Gahanga Twenty20 tournament which will commemorate the opening of a new cricket ground.

Uganda will also send a team to take part in the event. Kenya’s youth team will be captained by Sachin Bhudia who skippered the side that clinched the sole slot reserved for Africa in next year’s Under-19 World Cup during the continental qualifier in Nairobi in July.

Hosts Rwanda will be represent by two teams, Rwanda and Rwanda XI, but neither side is expected to give Kenya stiff challenge.

The threat for Kenya is likely to come from the much improved Uganda.

The other sides competing in the tournament are Coutts, Christopher Shale, Grannies, Eton Ramblers, and Yorkshire Tea.

The finals will be held on Sunday.
