Kenya floor South Africa Emerging for third victory

Kenya won their third consecutive match when they beat South Africa Emerging side by five wickets in the Twenty20 quadrangular tournament at the Wanderers Club in Windhoek, Namibia, on Sunday.

Batting first, the South Africa side set a target of 175 runs in their allotted 20 overs with David Wiese’s contribution of 62 runs, the best score for the side.

Meaningful figures

Yaseen Vallie (61) and Jean Symes (19) were the other South African players who posted meaningful figures on the scoreboard. Hiren Varaiya was South Africa’s main executioner taking three wickets for 35. He was supported by Shem Ngoche (2/30).

In reply, Kenya was home and dry, with five wickets in hand. Tanmay Mishra 45 (off 32 balls with three boundaries and two sixes)  was Kenya’s highest runs getter.

Morris Ouma (36) and Collins Obuya (36) were the other Kenyans who performed well in the match.

South African wicket takers were Andrew Birch (2/22), Beuran Hendricks (1/39), Keshav Maharaj (1/32) and Dwaine Pretorius (1/19).

Kenya, who have so far impressed, will conclude their Southern Africa tour with a game against hosts Namibia at the same venue on Tuesday.
