Swamibapa too good for Kanbis in T20 final

James Ngoche had a brilliant performance with the ball in a thrilling Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association Twenty20 final that saw Swamibapa beat Kanbis by 28 runs at the Nairobi Gymkhana ground at the weekend. 

Ngoche was Kanbis main executioner taking six wickets for 12.

Swamibapa started their innings on a promising note when openers, Oluoch and Alex Obanda (37) put on an opening partnership of 69. Saumil Patel (19) and Morris Ouma (12) were the only other Swamibapa’s batsmen who got double digit figures.

Gautam Bhudia was Kanbis’ highest wicket taker with four for 28. Harish Varsani (1/12) and Rajesh Bhudia (1/22) were the other wicket takers.

SINGLE RUN

In reply, Kanbis were routed for 120 with 12 balls in hand. Kanbis started their innings on a sour note when opening batsman Narendra Patel was caught by Oluoch off the bowling of Lameck Onyango (1/12) for a duck with a score of a single run showing on the scoreboard.

Rakep Patel top scored for Kanbis with 61 that came off 33 balls with five fours and four sixes.

Rakep shared a second wicket stand of 83 with Dhiren Gondaria (23), the best partnership for the side. Nelson Odhiambo (16) and Vinod Rabandia (10) were the other batsmen who contributed runs for Kanbis. Kanbis batting collapsed like a pack of cards when batsman number 5 to 10 were all dismissed for ducks.

Kanbis lost six wickets for 15 runs. Kanbis reached the final when they beat Stray Lions by 61 runs at the same venue in a play off on Saturday.
