While the recently concluded tour of Nyanza Province by Gor Mahia Football Club was to scout for new talent, the team’s visit to the home of the legendary Gor Mahia in Sigama, Kanyamwa, Ndhiwa district, offered some inspiration to the team that is determined to clinch the Premiership title this season.

The team’s tour of Nyanza kicked off in Migori Town where last season’s runners up in the Premier League made mince meat of their opponents with a 4-1 thrashing of Migori Combined.

The team left Migori by road through Sori Karungu where their first stop was at the home of former assistant minister Owigo Olang where they had breakfast.

They later left for Aora Chuodho, the home of the late polygamist, Asentus Akuku Danger where they paid their last respect at the polygamist’s grave side.

The Gor Mahia entourage later left for the home of the legendary Gor Mahia for lunch.

At the home of the legendary Gor Mahia, where they were met by family members, the players and officials visited the grave that was covered with a blanket.

“Most our young players wanted to visit the home and interact with family members and know more about Gor Mahia,” said team manager Jolawi Obondo.

Obondo noted although they do not believe in superstition, the visit is expected to give the team more impetus.
