The match between Gor Mahia and Mathare United was abandoned at the break on Sunday when enraged Gor fans held the referee and his assistants at ransom during the break over alleged poor officiating.

The fans blocked the officials in the changing room, forcing match commissar Robert Anangwe to call of the match with United leading 1-0.

Referee Frank Musungu came under heavy criticism from the fans over the way he handled the match, especially when he awarded United a free kick at the edge of the box, which was struck in by midfielder Austine Makacha in the 35th minute.

Stima 2 Tusker 1

In Kakamega, Tusker’s problems hit the roof top as they lost their fourth straight match, going down 2-1 to Western Stima at the Bukhungu Stadium.

Fred Shimonyo had opened the scoring for the home side just six minutes into the game after capitalising on a poor clearance by the champions.

Oscar Kadenge equalised for Tusker in the 37th minute after he was put through by Justus Anene.

But with the two sides headed for a draw, defender Joseph Shikokoti handed in the box under pressure as he tried to clear the ball in the 82nd minute, resulting into a penalty which was cooly converted by Paul Ochieng.

Tusker are now 18 points behind the leaders.

Ulinzi 0 Sony Sugar 1

Hosts Ulinzi lost their sting, going down 1-0 to Sony Sugar.

Both teams started the match on the offensive and it was just a matter of time before either defence cracked. But the fans were kept on their toes for the better part of the match as both goalkeepers had excellent saves.

In the 75th minute, Joakins Atudo struck from 12 yards after Ulinzi goalkeper Francis Onyiso had fouled Tom Ochieng in the box.

Thika 2 Mahakama 0

Thika United’s Joseph Mwangi and Paul Anunda in the second half to steer the side to a 2-0 victory over Mahakama at the Thika Municipal Stadium.

Mahakama had put up a brilliant display in the first half.
