Are you good in football and you can also act? Well, here’s your chance to put your multi-talent to use on a new series next year.
The football-based drama whose auditions will be held today and tomorrow at the Nyayo National Stadium, will also give the actors a rare chance to meet some of their favourite footballers both locally and internationally.
Series executive producer, Mburugu Gikunda, says they have received endorsements from the English Premier League and are hoping the clubs will send some of their stars from teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal to Kenya to feature in the program.
“We are also in talks with some of our local football stars and are excited about the project and they will be featured,” says Mburugu.
The series is part of an international project by Search for Common ground - an international non-profit organisation based in Washington DC and Media Focus on Africa, to produce a football-based drama series which will show how people can deal with conflict in their lives without resorting to violence.
“In Kenya, we will be highlighting issues like the post-election violence, corruption and other important issues affecting Kenyans. We will use the actors, who are footballers, to show the kind of problems they go through and how they deal with them,” Mburugu said.
Once complete, the series, which former Harambee stars coach Jacob “Ghost” Mulee is the technical adviser, will be broadcast locally.
