Kenya has dropped 14 places from position 98 to 112 in the latest Fifa world rankings.

On Monday, Harambee Stars combative midfielder McDonald Mariga saw his move to the English Premier League collapse due to Kenya’s poor placing in the Fifa rankings.

And now, a chance for Kenya to start climbing back up the rankings soon are almost nil.

Stars do not have an opportunity for international fixtures until mid-next year when there will be Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for 2012.

Continental champions Egypt have climbed into the top 10. The Pharaohs moved up 14 places to number 10 and are now Africa’s best team.

Not only is this Egypt’s highest placing ever, it is also the second highest ever by an African team after Nigeria was placed fifth in 1994.

Nigeria moved seven places to 15th and are now Africa’s second best in the ranking.

Egypt beat Ghana’s Black Stars 1-0 in Sunday’s final to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola for an unprecedented third consecutive victory and a record seventh trophy in the competition.

Other big movers in the Fifa ranking are Ghana, who climbed seven places to 27th and are fifth in Africa.

Spain continue to occupy the top spot in the world, ahead of Brazil and the Netherlands.
