A 10-member AFC Leopards interim management committee has been formed to run the club before organising for election by the end of April.
This follows a directive by the Sports Disputes Tribunal that ordered two faction of the club to work together following a dispute over which one should be in office. The groups agreed to form the committee under the mediation of the Dispute Tribunal on Monday.

The Sports Disputes Tribunal chairman John Ohaga has subsequently written to Sports Registrar Rose Wasike presenting the names of the nominated officials, and notifying her that their mandate will expire on April 20th by which time club elections will have been held.

The committee is headed by Mathew Opwora as chairman and Dan Mule as his deputy.

The committee’s responsibilities will include: raising of funds for the management of the club, taking charge of the player recruitment ahead of the 2016 season, negotiating sponsorship and execute contracts where necessary.
“The mandate of this Interim Management Committee (IMC) will be for a period of one hundred and twenty days from 22nd December 2015, and will automatically expire on 20th April 2016 unless otherwise lawfully extended or until the interim management committee is replaced by a duly elected committee of the club in accordance with the direction of the tribunal,” said Ohaga in a letter.

The disputes tribunal had initially ordered the two factions to nominate three members each, but they asked that the number of nominees be increased to five each in order to accommodate as many interests as possible. This request was acceded by the tribunal.
