Cameroon head coach, Hugo Broos has said his target now is to build a powerful squad that will win the Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon in 2019.

The Belgian soccer technician was speaking at a press conference in Yaounde following the elimination of the African champions Cameroon from the Russia 2018 World Cup campaign.

The 65-years old who led the Indomitable Lions to their fifth continental victory in Gabon earlier this year called in fans to be patient and maintain their support for the team a they prepare to win their second AFCON trophy in four years in 2019.

BUILDING NEW TEAM

“Now we have to build another new team but we have to look at what was good and was bad the last month and we need support. We will try to build a very good team for 2019. After Gabon, our dream is to win the trophy here in our country for the second time in four years,” Broos said.

Cameroon’s hopes of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup were quashed after a 1-1 draw with Nigeria at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde on Monday. The African champions conceded four against Nigeria during the away leg of the qualifiers on Friday; their first game after the Confederations Cup.

The results leaves Cameroon with just three points from four matches played and cannot top Group B. Algeria was scheduled to host Zambia in another group match on Tuesday.

Cameroon host Algeria next month while Nigeria take on the visiting Zambia.
