Kenyan Premier League (KPL) leaders AFC Leopards will be under pressure to return to their winning ways when they face Thika United on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium.

After surviving a scare on Thursday from Rangers in a league fixture that ended 0-0 at Nyayo, angry AFC fans held the match referee hostage for 30 minutes, forcing police to use tear gas to disperse them.

Team under pressure

And coach Jan Koops concedes pressure will be on his side in the match which kicks off at 3pm kick-off.

“The pressure is on us now. We must beat Thika. Another slip will not be allowed,” said Koops. Leopards closest rivals Tusker have played two games less and are just five points adrift. AFC are feeling the absence of the injured Paul Were as Allan Wanga and Mike Baraza lack ball up front.

Sunday’s fixtures:  Sony v Muhoroni Youth (3pm, Gusii Stadium); Ulinzi Stars v City Stars (3pm, Afraha Stadium); Karuturi Sports v Rangers (3pm, Karuturi); AFC Leopards v Thika United (3pm, Nyayo); Tomorrow: Sofapaka v Gor Mahia (7pm, Kasarani).
