Football Kenya Federation Technical Director Andreas Spier on Thursday said he is encouraged by the outstanding talents within the national team's Under-17 set up.

The German trainer has taken charge of the newly assembled youth side ahead of the 2017 Africa U-17 Championships qualifier against Cameroon next month.

The Kenyan team has also landed an invite and is set to feature as a guest team at the 2016 Cosafa U-17 Championship to be held in Mauritius starting July 22.

Speaking on Thursday after the team's training session at the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, Spier said the team will use the Southern African tournament as build up ahead of the date against Cameroon.

"The boys are so excited, energetic and talented. I am excited also. The players need lessons on organisation and tactics and that's why we have organised two training sessions each day to try and catch up," Spier, who led Rwanda's U-17 national team to qualification for the 2011 World Cup in Mexico said.
