Kenyan Premier League club Bandari team manager Alfred Achayo “Obwaka” will be laid to rest on Saturday at his Kiswaro Village home in Rarieda Constituency, Siaya County.

Bandari board member Salim Sumra said all the club’s players and officials will attend the burial.

“After burial, the team will travel to Nairobi to play in a tournament as part of the team’s preparation for the new season,” said Sumra.

Meanwhile, Bandari goalkeeper and captain Wilson Obungu Oburu now takes over the team manager’s position following Achayo’s demise.

Sumra said Obungu will also assist the club’s goalkeepers’ coach Razak Siwa.

“We have the confidence Obungu will manage the team to our satisfaction and co-operate with Siwa in training the goalkeepers to perform well in both the Premier League and cup matches,” said Sumra.

At the same time, Sumra confirmed that they had promoted five players from their second string side, Bandari Youth, to play for the team in the premier league.

The five are Jude Otieno, Swale Chacha, Hassan Idd Shamawia, Dennis Magige and Joachim Dahili.

Sumra said the players were being monitored during last season’s FKF Mombasa Sub-branch League which they won.

“We have decided to promote our five young players who played well in 2017 and we are confident they will play a big role in helping Bandari win this year’s KPL and other competitions this year,” said Sumra.

He said a Tanzanian striker, whom he did not want to name, is still in trials and they would only reveal his name after he signs for the club.

The Bandari official also said they are in the process of signing Rwandese goalkeeper Bushunga Abuoba.
