Ugandan imports Dan Sserunkuma and Musa Mudde have ditched Bandari football club ahead of their SportPesa Premier League match against Tusker on Sunday at Kinoru Stadium in Meru.

While Sserunkuma opted to move to Morocco where he will now be plying his trade after his contract expired, Mudde who has been the team’s mainstay in the midfield, joined AFC Leopards after failing to fit in coach Paul Nkata’s system of play.

Team manager Alfred Achayo said Mudde felt uncomfortable with the new offensive role he was given by the coach and felt he could not exploit his talent fully.
“It is our policy never to stand on the way of any player who wants to leave and thus our decision to release Mudde and Sserunkuma to try their luck elsewhere," Achayo, a former Bandari and Kenya international defender, said.

Also released by Bandari according to Achayo is goalkeeper Lucas Indeche whose contract has expired and youngster John Avire, who was recruited from Passenga High School but has now been loaned to Kakamega Homeboyz.

Achayo revealed Bandari had signed Gor Mahia striker Baron Oketch on loan, Kevin Omondi from Nakumatt, Tanzanian strikers Cosmas Lewis and Ivan Kiweewa, goalkeeper Godfrey Okongo from Onduparaka of Uganda and Moses Kinyanjui formerly of Mathare United.

According to Achayo, the new recruits have fitted well into the coach’s plans and should play a leading role in the teams remaining assignments.

"We have signed Godfrey Okong’o after the youngster impressed the technical bench during the transfer window trials. Being young, Okong’o has a bright future and the coach felt he is the most suitable replacement for Lucas Indeche whose contract with the club has expired."

Bandari are currently placed 14th on the 18-team standings with 19 points, nine points behind leader Tusker who they face on Sunday at Kinoru Stadium.
