Buoyant Shedu seeks City Stars’ scalp

  • “That win is part of my plan for the team and my main ambition at the moment is to help KCB crawl out of the relegation zone. We needed to win the match so that we can catch up with the other league members. We are going to do that one game at a time,” he said.

KCB coach Rishadi Shedu has said that his team will aim to maintain their newly found winning ways when they face City Stars today at the City Stadium.

This match will be preceded by impressive KRA taking on Western Stima.

Tomorrow, Muhoroni Youth will welcome Chemelil Sugar at their Muhoroni turf eager to rediscover their long lost winning streak.

KCB were impressive in their previous match last weekend at the same venue where they beat former champions Mathare United 4-0 to secure their third win of the season.

Coach Shedu, who rejoined the team early this season, says that the win was not by chance, but part of a long term plan that is just beginning to take shape.

“That win is part of my plan for the team and my main ambition at the moment is to help KCB crawl out of the relegation zone. We needed to win the match so that we can catch up with the other league members. We are going to do that one game at a time,” he said.

Shedu, who has in recent times rested goalkeeper Sammy Okinda for new signing Zachariah Onyango, also said that he is confident that he has the right calibre of players to achieve his ambition.

Their opponents City Stars are also flirting dangerously with relegation, with their three wins this season leaving them only one spot above the danger zone as the tail end of the season approaches.

The rejoining of former head coach Robinson Ofwoku will be a morale booster ahead of the match for the Stars who were recently bundled out of the Gotv Shield by University of Nairobi’s Wazito FC.
This match will be preceded by another Kenyan Premier League duel pitting league debutants KRA against Western Stima. Although flying high in the log at fifth place with 30 points, the taxmen are still smarting from a shock 0-1 loss in the hands of Thika United last weekend.

HUNGRY FOR A WIN

Stima on the other hand are hungry for a win, having gone six matches without a single win. Today’s encounter will therefore be their best chance to end this winless streak that has seen them skid to 13th place in the 16-team table.

Tomorrow Muhoroni Youth will welcome Chemelil Sugar at their Muhoroni turf eager to rediscover their long lost winning streak that has seen them go for eight matches without a win.

Coach Francis Baraza says that they will use the home advantage to defeat their opponents and end the undesirable statistic that has seen ham record five draws and here losses in their last eight league outings.

“We have trained hard for this game, and being at home match I believe the players will put up a good fight and win the match. I know our opponents are very good in defense but I am sure that we can overcome this challenge,” he told Nation Sport on Thursday.

This will make for an exciting match, considering that their opponents are sitting comfortably on fourth position, and have conceded the least goals this season.
