Champions Tusker have reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League table following their 2-0 victory over Karuturi Sport in Naivasha on Sunday.

Gor Mahia had moved to the top of the table after their 2-1 victory over AFC Leopards on Saturday, but their stay barely lasted 24 hours.

The brewers opened their account with Kenneth Wendo’s header in the eighth minute following a clever Joshua Oyoo pass.

Tusker dominated the entire half with goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch having a light afternoon. In the second half, David Nyanzi doubled their advantage in the 54th minute after collecting a pass from Oyoo.

In the 75th minute, Oluoch made a daring save to deny Zzida Hussein in Karuturi’s only threat at goal.

Lopsided match

In another match, Evans Amuoka claimed a double as Ulinzi Stars beat Oserian 2-0.

Ulinzi started the game on a high note as they went in search of early goals and it was their top scorer, Amuoka, whose brilliant shot beat John Waw in Oserian’s goal to give the soldiers the lead in the 17th minute.

In the second half, Ulinzi piled on the pressure and in the 51st minute, Amuoka rose unmarked to power in a header from a Chester Okoyo cross. The victory pushed the soldiers to third with 43 points.

In Awendo, Thika United’s title hopes suffered a major blow after they fell 3-0 to Sony Sugar.

Sony opened their account in the 13th minute when Ismael Dunga headed home a throw from Enock Agwanda.

Francis Ocholla added the second in the 80th minute after collecting Agwanda’s cross before John Kiplagat wrapped up the scores with just four miutes to go.

Elsewhere, Muhoroni Youth thrashed Nairobi City Stars 3-0 in a lopsided match. Abbey Kunrumi opened the floodgates in the 45th minute with a sublime goal.

Collins Neto added the second in the 64th minute before sealing Stars’ fate with his second in the 79th minute.
