Chemelil Sugar edged out Bandari 1-0 in a mid-week Kenyan Premier League match at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Wednesday.

The Ken Odhiambo-coached Bandari, who are camping in Nakuru ahead of the Kenya Communication Sports Organisation (Kecoso) games which kick off on Saturday, were overrun by a speedy Chemelil side that dominated proceedings from the onset.

Victor Ochieng scored the all-important goal after 34 minutes after connecting to Gerald Obwoge’s cross from the right flank to beat Bandari custodian Wilson Obungu.

On resumption Bandari piled on pressure but failed to hit the target with former Gor Mahia hitman Dan Sserunkuma guilty of missing a number of clear cut chances before he was rested.

“This was a game that we lost due to fatigue. My boys could not move the ball as fast as they are used to and this was our main undoing,” Odhiambo said.

Chemelil coach Francis Baraza praised his charges for the victory and said they played according to the strategy he had laid before the match.

“I am happy for the victory as my boys played according to the plan,” said Baraza.

Chemelil take on Sony Sugar at home in their next league assignment while Bandari will travel to Thika to tackle Thika United.
