After breaking a four-year jinx following their 3-1 triumph over Chemelil Sugar over the weekend, Sony Sugar coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno says they now want to build on that win to achieve their top-eight finish target this season.

Sony, whose last win over Chemelil was in March 2011, will next play struggling AFC Leopards this Friday at the Nyayo National Stadium before entertaining Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia next Wednesday.

“We have greatly improved our game and we are on track because the players are following instructions, but we have to concentrate on the next two league matches which may determine our season,’ he said.

Zico noted that consistent performances will propel the club to greater heights.

“We lacked steadiness in the opening fixtures of the season something that has cost us, but if we can build on the performance against Chemelil in our next two matches, then we will be on track,” he added.

ADIRA OUT

Zico rued the injury to 2014 KPL Goalkeeper of the Year, Jairus Adira, who dislocated his shoulder during their one-all draw against Mathare United last week saying his absence has destabilised his rear-guard.

“I understand it’s has always been difficult encounters when we meet Leopards and Gor Mahia but we will fight to the end,”

The win against arch-rivals Chemelil propelled the Awendo based side to seventh place with 14 points.
