LONDON

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck will miss Saturday's FA Cup final against Aston Villa due to a knee injury, manager Arsene Wenger told a press conference on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old has also been withdrawn from the England squad for their friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on June 7 and 2016 European Championship qualifier against Slovenia in Ljubljana on June 14.

"Danny Welbeck will not be fit, not for us, nor for England," said Wenger, whose side are the FA Cup holders.

"We called them yesterday, the FA (Football Association), to explain that his bone bruising of the knee has not healed."

Welbeck joined Arsenal from formative club Manchester United last September for a reported fee of £16 million ($24.7 million, 22.6 million euros) and has made 34 appearances for the club this season, scoring eight goals.
