Vihiga United coach Edward Manoah has lauded his charges after their 3-0 win over Kibera Black Stars on Wednesday.

The Vihiga County-sponsored side humiliated Black Stars at Camp Toyoyo to shoot to the summit of the National Super League standings on 17 points before Wazito FC dislodged them from the top on Thursday after beating Isibania 3-1 at the same venue.

Manoah has urged his charges to maintain the momentum when they host Police FC on Saturday in Mumias.

“I have asked my players to maintain the consistency in our next matches so that we remain in contention for a place in next year’s Kenyan Premier League,” said the former AFC Leopards tactician.

Vihiga took the lead five minutes to the break through captain Patrick Okullo, who headed in a rebound after Paul Ochieng failed to hold on to a fierce free kick from Martin Imbalambala.

There was a moment of scare when Vihiga’s utility man Kevin Muhanji collided with a Black Stars defender, before he was rushed to hospital.

Okullo scored again after combining well with Amos Kigadi before Ugandan import Rashid Kyambadde added the third for Vihiga, who were watched by club patron Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga.

In this weekend’s NSL match ups, former KPL side Kenya Commercial Bank will be away to face MOSCA on Sunday. KCB will be out to keep their winning ways after their mid-week 1-0 win over Palos FC.

After walloping Bidco United 6-1 to move third on the log, Nakuru All Stars, under the tutelage of George “Best” Mwangi, have a tough away assignment when they face fourth placed Ushuru on Monday in Nairobi.

The former Dagoretti Youth Centre star has challenged his side to maintain their form as they seek to return to the top tier two years after they were relegated.

Mwangi charges have picked seven points in their three recent matches; winning against KCB and Bidco United and forcing Vihiga United to a draw.

MIDWEEK RESULTS

GFE 105 0-1 Administration Police, Agrochemicals 0-1 Ushuru, Nakuru All Stars 6-1 Bidco United, KCB 1-0 Palos FC, FC Talanta 2-0 Nairobi City Stars.
