  • Alando was found guilty by the committee of issuing a wrong call during a Kenyan Premier League Top 8 Knockout Tournament match between Gor Mahia and Ushuru on Monday.

Football Kenya Federation on Friday suspended a senior Kenyan Premier League referee and issued a raft warnings to two others over poor officiating.

In the ruling made following a deliberation between FKF’s referees committee, the federation’s CEO Robert Muthomi announced assistant referee John Alando will serve a three-week (or three match) suspension.

Alando was found guilty by the committee of issuing a wrong call during a Kenyan Premier League Top 8 Knockout Tournament match between Gor Mahia and Ushuru on Monday.

During the particular incident, the match official who was manning the touchline at Nyayo Stadium, let atleast three Gor Mahia players, Godfrey Walusimbi, Jackson Saleh and Jacques Tuyisenge to continue with play despite having been offside.

Tuyisenge eventually “scored” the only goal of the game from this move. In a separate incident, centre referee Anthony Ogwayo was warned by the same committee for “inconsistency in application of the laws of the game during Ulinzi Stars Top-8 match against AFC Leopards last weekend.

Another whistler Raymond Onyango has been summoned to “explain his actions” during a league match between Sofapaka and Muhoroni Youth.

These decisions by FKF come after a series of complaints and protests on the standards of officiating in the country by football fanatics and other stakeholders.
