Brace yourselves for yet another great derby, Gor Mahia versus AFC Leopards next Sunday.

After a great performance in the Kenyan Premier League in the weekend where Ingwe beat Karuturi Sports to extend their lead in the table and Gor Mahia mauled City Stars 4-0 to continue their push towards the top, the two most followed clubs in Kenyan football lock horns at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in the weekend in the Top Eight clash.

It’s bound to be a mouth-watering battle of the two most in form sides in the KPL with Gor Mahia having won seven of their last eight league outings and Leopards three in a row.

Leopards edged a stubborn Karuturi Sports by a solitary goal scored by Victor Ochieng.

It all seemed destined for a draw until Ochieng, a late second half substitute volleyed a rebound to help his side collect the three points.

The win saw Ingwe extend their lead to 40 points, four ahead of champions Tusker who were on the same day bundled out of the East and Central Africa Club championships in Tanzania.

“It was a big win for us. It’s one goal but three points and we are marching on,” said Leopards assistant coach Mickey Weche.

As Leopards were celebrating in Mumias, K’Ogalo were having a ball at the City Stadium where Ugandan Dan Sserunkuma was showing scant respect for his former employer-City Stars.

Sserunkuma scored a brace, Rama Salim and Edwin Lavatsa added one each as Gor Mahia went on rampage hammering a hapless City Stars 4-0 to move to within eight points of Ingwe.
